King Mansuang

8 Uuon hearing the news of King Mansuang leading a large army against his land, King Phimphisakhon readied his force to withstand the attack. Hosts of fighting men followed their King. The two forces clashed in battle, swinging and slashing with their long sabres, wielding swords and cutting down the enemies. Some threw spears and others thrusted lances at their foes. A fierce battle was fought on the left side. On the right the struggle was intense. Brave and bold men lunged and plunged at one another, engaged in the fight to bring the enemy down. Their shouts and cheers for victory were deafening. Canons boomed, reverberating and shaking the ground. Both sides profusedly exchanged shots and fires with their cross bows and fire-arms. Men against men. Beasts against beasts. Horses veered and shfted while their riders fought with javelins. King Phimphisakhon, in the thick of battle, was cut down atop his war elephant. His commander intercepted, rescued the body of the alain King, and pulled back safely within the city walls. The gates were secured against the enemies.

9 Prince Phichai Phisanukhon took command of safe guarding the city and successfully withstood the attack. King Mansuang then returned to his kingdom. Prince Phichai ascended the throne and performed funeral rites for his father. The King put his two daughters into the care of the dowager queen. Accompanying the young Princesses were two able maids whom he named Ruen and Roy, to be their companions. The Princesses since then resided with their Grandmother.
